Pulse — Pet the Pestilence
Pulse is the new album by Pet the Pestilence: fifteen melancholic indie folk songs written for the hours after someone leaves. It started on late drives — headlights on wet road, the radio turned low — when the mind keeps circling back to a kitchen where the kettle was left on and a coat still hangs behind the chair. The songs walk that house room by room: the empty chair, the key beside the cup, the stain where daylight used to fall. Then they head out into the hollow, the quiet place under everything where you fall and keep falling. Some of these songs ask someone to stay; others admit they never could. Drive Slow and Golden Shade keep to the road, while If Sin Is a Room and I Call It Sin sit with the doubt. It is a record for night driving and kitchen light, sung close and low. Written by David W. Johansson.
